COVID-19: new well-being campaign launched in Wales

Public Health Wales (PHW) has launched a new campaign to deal with the negative consequences of COVID-19 on the mental, physical and social well-being of Welsh people.

The new campaign titled 'How are you doing?' has been developed to assist people to look after their well-being and also to safeguard public health during the isolation period.

Several charities and human rights experts have warned that isolation measures implemented by the government to tackle COVID-19 will put disabled, vulnerable and older people at risk and can have a negative influence on the wider public mental and physical well-being. The decision to develop the campaign was made in response to their call.

A new microsite from PHW will display key information offering practical support for people. It will also provide useful links to charities and support groups for individuals feeling overwhelmed by the ongoing pandemic. Television and radio adverts along with social media coverage are being used to propagate the campaign.

Dr Tracey Cooper, Chief Executive of PHW, said: "It is extremely important that we protect ourselves and each other by following all of the guidance and measures for COVID-19, but we also appreciate that social distancing and being isolated from loved ones is hard and can negatively impact on our wellbeing, which is why we decided to launch our “How are you doing?” campaign."
