HIV Scotland launches new Generation Zero campaign.

HIV Scotland has launched Generation Zero, a new campaign aiming for “zero new HIV transmissions, zero new HIV-related deaths and zero HIV-related stigma and discrimination.” The launch comes alongside publication of HIV Scotland’s Annual Report 2019-2020.

The organisation has adapted its support offered during the COVID-19 pandemic, including a helpline, virtual life coaching and virtual social events to help keep people connected and informed and reduce social isolation. This includes providing up-to-date, accurate information about PrEP, HIV prevention and sex during COVID-19 on its Coronavirus Minisite.

Other key ongoing projects include:

  • the National Patient Survey, a peer-led project to examine the experience of people living with HIV (PLHIV) in Scotland
  • Living Well at 50+, which brings together PLHIV and various stakeholder organisations to discuss the issues experienced by PLHIV in this age group.
  • HIV Testing in Primary Care, a project designed to build the capacity of primary care nurses and GPs to undertake efficient and effective HIV testing that is free from stigma and discrimination, with the aim of reducing late diagnosis and undiagnosed HIV.

2019 was described as a successful year for the organisation, with several new funders coming on board.
