Details of a new collaboration between the European Association of Neurology (EAN) and the European Association of Neuro-Oncology (EANO) have just been announced.
The EAN and EANO have signed a memorandum of understanding which will allow the organisations to collaborate to help promote optimal management of neuro-oncological care in neurology in Europe. More specifically, the collaboration is aimed at enhancing education and scientific endeavours in the field.
The two societies have agreed to collaborate on a number of specific activities. These include efforts to optimise education by encouraging attendance of members at summer schools and teaching courses; encouraging links with other relevant societies; and establishing joint sessions at each other’s congresses, meetings, and other relevant conferences.
In a statement, the EAN and EANO said the two societies’ mutual aspirations are complementary and fit well together and that together, they will be able to work “more effectively towards the recognition of the importance and needs of neuro-oncological care and for strengthening funding for research in Europe.”
The statement added, “future cooperation will support the neuro-oncological care of patients across Europe and strengthen research in this field”.
