Britons are not getting enough exercise

A recently released YouGov survey indicates that 27 per cent of Britons are not performing even a single 30-minute exercise session in a week.

The NHS has recommended moderate-intensity exercise for at least 150 minutes or vigorous-intensity activity for 75 minutes every week.

Only 8 per cent of Britons manage to complete a 30-minute exercise session daily, whereas 11 per cent, 13 per cent, 12 per cent and 26 per cent are able to complete one, two, three and four or more sessions in a week, respectively. An additional 8 per cent of Britons said they are not able to complete an exercise session in one go because of a health condition or disability.

The findings also highlight the effect of the holiday season on exercise habits. Twenty-six per cent of Britons did not perform any exercise between July to late November. This figure rose to 30 per cent by the end of November and 36 per cent in Christmas week.
